I joined the Muslim Women Heath Initiative, which is a project around the Vital Five and preventing, informing, and educating the community on health conditions, I have become a volunteer Champion, where I am currently undergoing training. This project focuses on educating women in our community about the Vital Five: diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, alcohol, and drugs and further educate the community.
The Limehouse project staff have been incredibly helpful and enthusiastic, which has inspired us all. Through Limehouse Project, I have gained a lot, including boosted confidence and self-esteem. I haven’t worked for many years because I care for my son with special needs, so re-entering the social environment was challenging. Limehouse Project helped me financially and socially, and through volunteering, I’ve realised that I can make a difference without having a traditional job. I’ve made friends and built lasting connections, which has improved my social life and personally.
